Our sense of smell is a wonderful thing. What do you think peace smells like?
Our sense of smell is a wonderful thing. What do you think peace smells like?
- Let’s take three, deep, peaceful breaths together.
- Calm you body and your mind.
- I have several items to show you. I will hold them up for you to see one at a time. When you see the item, use your mind to remember what it smells like. (Repeat the questions below for each aromatic item you have for this practice.)
- Breathe deeply, imagine you can smell the item.
- Think of a word that describes the aroma of the item. Does it smell sweet? Fresh? Stinky? Spicy?
- How does the aroma of this item make you feel?
- (Continue until you complete the process with each item.)
- Sharing:
- How would you describe the different aromas?
- How do you feel when you smell a lemon? A bar of soap? An onion?
- If peace had an aroma, what would it smell like?
- This week:
- Pay attention to the aromas around you.. Count how many you can identify and notice how they make you feel.
- Share those feelings with someone in your family.
