A Meditation on God's Preferred Future

Picture
Pick a hymn, poem, or prayer that has been important to you on your faith journey and describes God's hopes for creation.

What type of world is described in this hymn, poem, or prayer? How closely does our current reality resemble the one described?

Now, think about that hymn, poem, or prayer in relation to the candidates and questions that will be on the ballot for the upcoming election. If you aren't sure what will be on the ballot in your area, a quick Google search often provides information about what will be included.

Slowly and intentionally work your way through each candidate name and each ballot question, writing notes as you reflect. Pause after each one and ask yourself, "Does a vote in support of this person or this question help bring about the future described in the hymn, poem, or prayer I chose?" Let your answers to this question guide your decisions.
