We will use our imaginations to sail on a boat on an island journey.
- Sit in a comfortable position with your eyes closed.
- Let’s take three, deep, peaceful breaths.
- Imagine being on a boat, the waves rise and fall, the boat rocks (everyone sways).
- Our boat takes us to different islands and oceans.
- First we sail close to Anxious Island. Our bodies start to tense up (tense the muscles in your hands, arms, feet, legs, back, face,).
- We pass Anxious Island and now we are sailing around Calm Island (relax your muscles from the top of your head to the tip of your toes).
- Oh dear, we are starting to cross Angry Ocean. This could be rough (make angry faces, sway with big swells, flail arms like crashing waves)!
- The waves are calmer as we enter the Gentle Sea (make calm faces, everyone is gently swaying).
- Our journey is taking us to Happy Island (everyone smiles waves arms, jumps up and down).
- Now we are ending our journey at Restful Shore. We leave our boat and take one more deep breath.
- Sharing:
- What did Anxious Island feel like?
- Have you ever felt anxious about something?
- What was it like to go across Angry Ocean into the Gentle Sea?
- When have you calmed yourself after feeling angry?
- What did you imagine Happy Island looks like?
- What did Anxious Island feel like?
- This week:
- If we find ourselves in Angry Ocean or on Anxious Island, we can take some peaceful breaths, sway with the rocking of the boat, and imagine sailing to calmer islands and seas.
