New Expressions
Through the centuries, people have discovered ways to deepen and utilize their spirituality in new and intentional ways to bring the Divine into the lives of individuals and into the world. Sometimes knowingly and sometimes unwittingly, they prepared themselves to be used by God in large and small ways to help people encounter God and experience joy, hope, love, and peace as never before. These people have included Moses, Isaiah, Mary, Elizabeth, and many others.

One of the most noteworthy was the Apostle Paul. In one of his letters to the people of Corinth, he said “I have become all things to all people that by all means I might save some.” With these words, Paul eloquently expressed the need for all disciples to intentionally prepare themselves spiritually and be open to the Holy Spirit as it leads them to experiment with “all means” to reach more people with God’s desire to draw all of us close “so that wounds may be healed, emptiness filled, and hope strengthened.” (Doctrine and Covenants 163:10a)
Such efforts continue to this day as people listen for the Holy Spirit and then implement new expressions of being “the church” in the world. A collection of some of these missional endeavors can be found by clicking on the button below. The information includes testimonies from people who have and are experimenting with new ideas as well as possibilities that have not yet been implemented. The collection also includes book and article suggestions and other resources to assist individuals who are sensing a call to try something new.
